According to multiple reports, Xabi Alonso has decided to leave Bayer Leverkusen and take over as Real Madrid head coach this summer.

Sky Germany now reports that Imanol Alguacil, head coach of Alonso's former club Real Sociedad, is among the candidates to replace him.

Alguacil, who has been in charge of Sociedad since December 2018, has already confirmed he will depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

A final decision on Alonso’s future is expected this week, with the Spanish coach scheduled to meet with Bayer Leverkusen’s management to formally announce his intention to move on, according to Relevo.

Both Fabrizio Romano and Sky Germany have reported that current Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti will take over as head coach of the Brazilian national team, paving the way for Alonso’s return to Madrid.
