Gladbach prepare to shop two prospects for loans, veteran Lang likely to stay
An article in Germany's "Rheinische Post" sheds some light on what Borussia Mönchengladbach plans to do with some of its surplus players in the coming days.
A team roster of 32 active players remains far too large for Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach. Sources at a local newspaper revealed that the foals will indeed attempt to set-up two of their underused players for loan deals.
Paraguayan striker Julio Villalba has not played thus far this year since returning from a six-month loan spell with Austrian side SCR Altach last spring. The 22-year-old was one of the players sporting director Max Eberl quite publicly tried to move well before the autumn transfer deadline.
Villalba made a surprise appearance in the recent Pokal round in a deliberate effort to showcase his ability to prospective organizations. The club will reportedly redouble efforts to find a loan destination for both him and Danish prospect Andreas Poulsen, who has only appeared for the reserve team this season.
Curiously enough, the newspaper notes that the club does not wish to part company with veteran right-back Michael Lang. Although the Swiss international found himself dismissed by lowly Werder Bremen at the end of last season and was another one of the players Eberl sought to offload, the club is reportedly pleased with his morale presence in the locker room and is now considered an important member of the squad.
