Werder Bremen wrapped up their involvement in 2025 with a 0-0 stalemate against FC Augsburg this afternoon. At full-time, coach Horst Steffen gave his thoughts on the affair.

“There were chances for us, there were chances for Augsburg. Therefore, we have to live with the point and are happy that we took a point away from the game.

“Today we gave it our all and played a decent match. So I'm satisfied. I'm looking forward to next year, to new games and new successes,” Steffen said.

Bremen's captain Marco Friedl also answered questions in the mixed room after the game. The Austrian felt his side rode their luck at times but also need to be more clinical.

“The first half was very open, but with few chances. In the second half, Augsburg had more of the game. They pushed us back and we had little relief.

"We have to convert the two clear-cut opportunities we had. We were also lucky with Augsburg's header that hit the crossbar.

“The attitude was definitely different than in recent weeks. Ultimately, we have to take the draw,” explained the 27-year-old defender.
