In an interview with Sky Germany, RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda opened up about the dismissal of ex-coach Marco Rose and his ambitions for this season.

“To be honest, it [Marco Rose’s sacking] was very hard for me,” he told reporter Philipp Hinze.

“From day one he was like a father to me. We had many conversations. He taught me a lot, and I developed personally. I am very grateful for him,” Openda said.

The Belgian star expressed his desire to finish strong and guarantee Champions League qualification, hinting he could look elsewhere if they fail to do so.

“Yes, some big clubs know me… the Champions League is very important to me.

“Last season, I played in this competition for the first time. I really want us to qualify again,” said the 25-year-old.
