After Union Berlin coach Bo Svensson and director of men's football Horst Heldt confirmed Robin Gosens' imminent transfer to Fiorentina on Friday evening, the deal has now been officially announced on the websites of both clubs.

“We had a difficult last season, but I always felt very comfortable here and wore the Union jersey with pride,” said Gosens.

The left-back joined Union from Inter last summer and ended up spending just one season in the German capital.

“Many people have made my time here a very special one. I made friends here, was able to fulfil my dream of playing in the Bundesliga and am grateful to the fans, the staff, the coaching team and my team-mates and friends and will always have positive memories of them,” he said.

Union boss Horst Heldt added:

“It's no secret what ambitions Robin had when he joined Union last summer. He was a player for us who always showed full commitment. Robin gave his all in a difficult season and we give him a lot of credit for that. Now I wish him all the best and every success for the time ahead in Florence.”
