Wolfsburg have decided to let 5 players go in preparation for next season. The most prominent name among these 5 is former German national team player Kevin Behrens.

His expiring contract is not being extended. The same goes for striker Bartosz Białek, goalkeeper Niklas Klinger and midfield talent Bennit Bröger who is reportedly signing with Paderborn for next season.

In addition to those players, Wolfsburg have terminated the contract of leftback Manuel Braun who is on loan at Waldhof Mannheim until June.

All those players have played a combined 19 games for Wolfsburg this season; Behrens alone has played 18, but only managed to be on the pitch for 142 minutes.

Behrens has attracted attention this season after he made a homophobic comment during an autograph signing in autumn. The club reacted by giving Behrens a fine and an extended warning, after which Behrens apologized for his misbehaviour.
