Germany begin preparations for Denmark clash without Rüdiger

Antonio Rüdiger was absent on Wednesday morning as Germany began their preparations for Saturday's last-16 clash with Denmark.

Germany centre-back Antonio Rüdiger remains in a race against time to be fit for Saturday's Euro 2024 last-16 clash with Denmark.

The 31-year-old was absent from the training ground in Herzogenaurach on Wednesday morning as Germany began their preparations for the match.

Rüdier pulled a muscle in his right thigh during Germany's 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Sunday.

Three days later, it's still unclear whether he'll be fit enough to face Denmark. On Wednesday, he received treatment indoors.

According to Bild, the plan is for Rüdiger to resume training towards the end of the week.

Germany will be without Rüdiger's partner in central defense, Jonathan Tah, as he's suspended.

Nico Schlotterbeck is expected to come in for Tah, while Waldemar Anton is likely to play alongside him if Rüdiger is also ruled out.
