Jung and Broschinski on Karlsruhe's "satisfying" cup win over Münster

The Baden-Württemberg club from the second division struck twice in the last 20 minutes to secure their DFB-Pokal progression.

Despite trailing at the break, Karlsruhe SC's Sebastian Jung never doubted his side would defeat Preußen Münster in their DFB-Pokal first round meeting this evening.

“We knew that a situation like this could arise, that we might fall behind. Nevertheless, we continued to believe in ourselves," Jung said in the mixed zone after their 2-1 victory.

"In the second half, we stepped it up a notch and hardly allowed Münster out. Inevitably, we then created our chances and equalized with a good long-range shot from Wanne [Wanitzek].

“For the 2-1, I was lucky enough to be in the right place and tap the ball in from five or six meters. I'm delighted for the team that we rewarded ourselves,” he added.

Providing the match-winning assist on the night, Moritz Broschinski cut a more of a relieved figure but was happy to help his side reach the second round.

“That was a tough match, but we didn't expect anything different. Preußen Münster is not a bad team. Towards the end, we still had energy and were able to push forward.

“This allowed us to increase the tempo, which ultimately proved decisive. Turning the game around after being down gives us a good feeling; it's all the more satisfying,” he said.
