With Xabi Alonso at the helm, Bayer Leverkusen achieved something historic last season, winning the German double and reaching the Europa League final.

Die Werkself are now looking to add to their squad ahead of next season in order to build on those achievements, and apparently they're now ready to make their first summer signing.

That's according to Kicker, who reports that 19-year-old defender Jeanuel Belocian's move from French side Stade Rennes to Leverkusen is imminent.

Sky Germany also claims that Leverkusen are closing in on the Frenchman, reporting that he will cost around €15 million and receive a contract until 2029.

A left-footed defender, Belocian made 27 appearances in all competitions for Rennes last season, mainly as a central defender in a back four, but also occasionally as a left-back.

The 19-year-old is a France U21 international, having made two appearances for the team. His contract with Stade Rennes runs until the summer of 2025.
