Hertha BSC attacker Marco Richter will have surgery to remove a tumor from his testicle.

The club confirmed today that Richter will be out indefinitely after a urological examination revealed a tumor on his testicle.

"The club will inform fans of Marco's progress when further information is known," said the club in a statement.

"Until then, we ask that Marco's privacy is respected. We wish our number 23 a full and speedy recovery."

Richter scored six goals in 33 games for Hertha last season.
