Official: Wolfsburg introduce Svanberg

One day after confirming the move to various German media outlets, VfL Wolfsburg officially introduced the player most see as Xaver Schlager's direct replacement on Saturday.
The deal having already been reported upon as done, VfL Wolfsburg officially introduced new midfield signing Mattias Svanberg on Saturday.German footballing magazine Kicker reports that the amount due to the Swedes Serie A club, FC Bologna, hovers around the €9 million range.

"The fact that we were able to bring a player of his caliber makes us immensely happy," VfL sporting director Marcel Schäfer noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "Despite being only 23 years old, Mattias is already incredibly experienced and very far along in his development. He is a mobile and technically strong midfielder."

"I really have the best conditions here to develop as a player and I think I can help the team to be successful," the 21-times0-capped Sweden international added in his own statement, "I'd lie be able to play internationally again with this club."

Svanberg started 36 of 38 league games for Bologna last season, bagging three Serie A goals in the process. His new contract with Germany's green company team runs through 2027.
