Kovac confirms Svanberg deal

Niko Kovac has confirmed that Mattias Svanberg is set to join Wolfsburg.
VfL Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac has confirmed reports that Mattias Svanberg is on the verge of making the switch to Volkswagen Arena from Bologna.

"It looks very good, I think it will go through in the next few days. I hope I can welcome him here next week," Kovac told Kicker.

Wolfsburg are paying a reported fee of €9 million to bring Svanberg to Germany as a replacement for Xaver Schlager, who joined RB Leipzig earlier this summer.

"With Xaver Schlager, we have lost a player who has the ability to play box to box. This is the type of player we have tried to find," said Kovac.

"He has proven that he can score and set up goals. He has the profile we were looking for. He has ambition, which we need here. That's why we chose him."
