The Bundesliga team of the season so far

We've taken a look back at the first half of the season and picked our Bundesliga team of the season until now.
Goalkeeper: Yann Sommer, Borussia Mönchengladbach
Borussia Mönchengladbach have conceded the second fewest goals in the Bundesliga, and Yann Sommer has definitely played his part in the defensive stability of 'Die Fohlen' with a lot of stunning saves. The Swiss international just edges RB Leipzig's Peter Gulacsi to take our goalkeeper position.

Right-back: Joshua Kimmich, Bayern München
The German international has played at a consistently high level no matter if he has played at right-back or in midfield, scoring once and making seven assists in 17 appearances. Kimmich is invaluable to Bayern defensively and offensively, and it's no coincidence that he has registered the most touches of all Bundesliga players in the first half of the season.

Centre-back: Makoto Hasebe, Eintracht Frankfurt
The Japanese international was recently ranked as the best centre-back in the Bundesliga in the first half of the season by German football magazine Kicker - and deservedly so. Hasebe has simply been outstanding, and he has meant the world to Frankfurt's defence with his clever positioning, calmness, experience and ability with the ball at his feet.

Centre-back: Matthias Ginter, Borussia Mönchengladbach
The 24-year-old has thrived as Gladbach's defensive boss. Despite his calm nature, Ginter has shown that he isn't afraid to yell at the pitch when necessary. The German international has played at a consistently high level and has simply been rock solid.

Left-back: Achraf Hakimi, Borussia Dortmund
The Moroccan international has taken the Bundesliga by storm since joining from Real Madrid on loan in the summer. With his pace, quick feet and impressive technical ability, he has been a breath of fresh air at Dortmund's left-back position.

Defensive midfielder: Axel Witsel, Borussia Dortmund
Witsel has been Dortmund's anchor in the middle of the park and has been quick to emerge as one of the BVB's most important players. The Belgium international always oozes calmness with the ball at his feet and is never afraid to engage in physical battles.

Right midfielder: Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund
The 18-year-old winger has been one of the Bundesliga's breakout stars this season, scoring six goals and making eight assists in 17 games - and his importance for Dortmund is growing by the day. With his pace, quick feet and impressive dribbling, Sancho definitely has something special in his locker.

Offensive midfielder: Marco Reus, Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund's captain fantastic's inclusion in the team is self-explanatory, really. Until now, the 29-year-old has stayed injury-free and played all 17 Bundesliga games for Borussia Dortmund with 11 goals and seven assists to his name. An invaluable part of Dortmund's success side in every way.

Left midfielder: Thorgan Hazard, Borussia Mönchengladbach
Gladbach has been one of the Bundesliga's biggest surprise packages this season, and Hazard has meant a great deal to the success of 'Die Fohlen' with nine goals and six assists in 17 appearances. The winger is definitely enjoying his best ever Bundesliga season, and it's no wonder that he has caught the eye of some of Europe's elite clubs.

Striker: Sebastien Haller, Eintracht Frankfurt
Haller has formed a magical triangle at Frankfurt along with Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic, and while each of them certainly deserves to be considered for the team, we've decided to go with Haller. The 24-year-old has been the most consistent of the three, and his statistics speak for themselves. In 17 appearances, Haller has netted nine times and made eight assists which makes him the Bundesliga's top assist maker.

Striker: Paco Alcacer, Borussia Dortmund
The Borussia Dortmund striker has just played around 500 Bundesliga minutes, but to put it mildly, he has been extremely effective whenever he has been given a chance. Alcacer tops the Bundesliga's top scorer list alongside Frankfurt's Luka Jovic with 12 goals and has had great importance for Dortmund's success.
