Journalist Thomas Hiete of Germany's preeminent footballing publication explicitly denies that there has been any contact between Tottenham Hotspur and VfL Wolfsburg over a potential transfer of Dutch defender Micky van de Ven.

After reports from both England and Holland regarding a potential blockbuster move of Dutch center back Micky van de Ven to EPL side Tottenham Hotspur began emerging late yesterday, Thomas Hiete of Germany's Kicker Magazine addressed said rumors on the website of Germany's preeminent footballing publication. Hiete - who is known to have reliable sources within the club - reports that Wolfsburg have received no inquiries from the North London based club.

Hiete claims that no one on the VfL administrative team has fielded any contact from Spurs. Moreover, van de Ven himself has not even so much as hinted to the club's front office that he wishes to transfer out this summer. What he's spoken on in public interviews hasn't been communicated to the higher-ups. The 22-year-old's agent has gone public with the possibility of a move, but the player himself (recently signed to a lucrative contract extension) may not be amenable to joining a new club so soon.

Hiete goes on to note that the German Wolves - per his own sources - will not consider an offer below €40 million for the defender. Even if the VfL squad has been bolstered by additions in the central defensive corps this offseason, Marcel Schäfer and the WOB administrative team wish to retain the Dutchman - who can also play as a left fullback for the upcoming campaign.
