Bayern Munich are used to dominating games, but Saturday's match against Bayer Leverkusen was different, with the Bavarians forced to defend for much of the game.

After the 0-0 draw, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany praised his team's defensive efforts.

"Of course we always want to dominate games. But when a team earns the right to make us defend, then we have to defend. Leverkusen played very well today, pressed very well, secured the ball very well and fought for it," said Kompany in a post-match interview.

“Above all, we had to defend today. And I have to praise my team: We've had so many games in the past where we've scored a lot of goals. Today was different, it was all about defending and we did a great job. We defended with a great mentality. We'll take that home with us.”

The draw means Bayern remain eight points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga table.
