Baku reflects on St. Pauli win: "Not the prettiest of victories"

It wasn't always pretty, but Leipzig got the win against St. Pauli - and that's all that matters, said Ridle Baku after the game.

Ridle Baku has admitted that RB Leipzig's 2-0 win over FC St. Pauli on Sunday wasn't "the prettiest of victories".

Die Roten Bullen went 2-0 up thanks to first-half goals from Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons and held on despite being reduced to 10 men when captain Willi Orban saw red in the 69th minute.

For Leipzig, who ended a three-match winless streak, the victory was much appreciated, even if it wasn't always pretty.

“Winning in front of our own fans always does us good. St. Pauli made life difficult for us today and had a few chances of their own. We took our own opportunities in the first half and closed the game out to win at home," said Ridle Baku in a post-match interview.

“This win will give us some energy for our upcoming games. Holding on to a victory with 10 men late on will help us. It wasn’t the prettiest of victories, but that doesn’t matter to us. We just need to win games and that’s exactly what we did today,” added the Leipzig player.
