Borussia Mönchengladbach published a video featuring right-back Stefan Lainer speaking for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.
Borussia Mönchengladbach right-back Stefan Lainer remains out indefinitely following a lymph-node cancer diagnosis revealed late last month. On Wednesday, the club afforded the 30-year-old an opportunity to address the club's fans for the first time on social media. A brief video featuring the Austrian was published on the BMG twitter feed.

"Hello everyone," Lainer noted in the video, "I simply wished to take an opportunity to thank everyone. And not simply in a superficial manner, but from the very bottom of my heart. Thanks for the tremendous support. The messages. The jerseys. It's been really meaningful for me."

"After this shock diagnosis, it's been really valuable to receive this support," Lainer continued, "from my family, my friends, the club, and - of course - from all of you out there. It hasn't been easily in the last few weeks. but I'm feeling very confident and am looking forward to getting back on the pitch soon."

"I'll be fighting for that," Lainer concluded, "and hopefully we'll all have something to celebrate together again sometime soon."
