On Wednesday, Werder Bremen announced that Anthony Jung's contract has been extended by one year until 2025 because of a performance-based clause in his contract.

In an interview published on Werder's official website, the 32-year-old reflected on the fact that he'll be staying for at least another year.

I’m obviously thrilled to have reached this number so early on in the season. This has given me some peace of mind and allowed for some certainty surrounding my plans. I’m happy, and, I must say, also quite proud of myself," said Jung.

Since his move from Danish side Brøndby in 2021, Jung has settled in well in Bremen.

"I've always said that as you get older as a footballer, you make decisions not just for yourself, but for your whole family. My son’s growing up here with us – my wife and our two dogs. We feel at home in Bremen and we’ve felt that more and more the longer we’ve been here."
