On Tuesday, Foot Mercato reported that Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz was close to agreeing personal terms with Bayern Munich.

However, Bayer Leverkusen quickly dismissed the report when approached by RTL and ntv, describing it as the “1000th false rumor” surrounding their attacking star.

Nevertheless, Bayern Munich remain a strong contender in the race for the 21-year-old, who has long been on the club’s radar.

Honorary president Uli Hoeneß continues to maintain a close relationship with the Wirtz family and revealed earlier this month that the player's parents had visited him last year.

Wirtz is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027.
