SC Freiburg have brought back Vincenzo Grifo from Hoffenheim permanently, the club have announced.
It's not the first time Grifo has joined Freiburg from Hoffenheim. The 26-year-old took the same step in 2015 and went on to play for Freiburg until 2017 when he joined Borussia Mönchengladbach.
After one season at Gladbach, Grifo returned to Hoffenheim ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. But he ended up spending the second half of last season on loan at Freiburg, scoring six goals and making four assists in 16 appearances.
"Actually, we weren't planning to make any further signings. However, when the option to sign 'Vince' on a permanent deal suddenly arose, we decided to take advantage of the situation," Freiburg boss Jochen Saier told the club's website and added:
"The experiences in the past, his qualities and high identification with our club prompted us to take this step."
