Arjen Robben reveals he turned down plenty of interesting offers before hanging up his boots after his contract with Bayern München expired at the end of last season.

Ultimately, after spending months about considering his future, the 35-year-old decided that he wanted to retire.

"You can't decide something like that from one day to the next. I kept having doubts and thought about it for weeks and months," Robben told Sport Bild.

"There was a lot of interest from really great, successful clubs. But it's not appropiate to name them. What I can say is that I had some very interesting conversations. Unfortunately, I had to disappoint some people in the end," he added.

At the moment, Robben still hasn't decided if he wants to take a different role in football.

"I'm just about to find out for myself what I want to do, now that my career has ended. I've been a professional footballer since I was 16. That's almost 20 years. Right now, my family is in first place since they don't have to share me with football anymore," Robben underlined.

The former Dutch international played for Bayern München from 2009 to 2019.
