Schalke 04 are on the verge of extending Benjamin Stambouli's contract, according to Sky.
The 29-year-old's deal expired on June 30, but 'The Royal Blues' would like to keep him at the club.
Stambouli, who has earned €4.5 million per year since joining Schalke from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, is set to take a pay cut following the club's decision to introduce a salary cap of €2.5 million per season.
The Frenchman made 10 appearances for Schalke 04 last season before suffering a foot injury, which kept him out of the rest of the campaign.
