Patrick Herrmann happy with competition at Gladbach

Patrick Herrmann says he is happy with the competition at Borussia-Park.
Patrick Herrmann insists the competition for places at Borussia Mönchengladbach is pushing him to get the best out of himself.

"Competition is a must, takes me further and makes me even stronger," Herrmann told Kicker.

"We have a lot planned for the Champions League in the new season. It's always good to have a lot of quality in the squad when you are in three competitions," added the winger, who is competing for a starting spot with the likes of Marcus Thuram and Alassane Pléa.

The 29-year-old wants to continue where he left off after racking up six goals and eight assists in 27 Bundesliga games for Gladbach last season.

"The past season went really well for me, both in terms of playing time and goals and assists. I hope that I can chip in with a few more in the new season," he said.
