Bayern München have confirmed that Joshua Kimmich has successfully undergone surgery on his right lateral meniscus on Sunday.

The German champions now expect the German international to be unavailable until January.

"We're glad that Joshua will probably be available again in a matter of weeks. We'll support him in his rehabilitation as best we can," said FC Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

Kimmich hurt his knee in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, which saw him forced off during the first half.
