Hoffenheim in strict quarantine as more corona cases accumulate

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim confirmed more positive corona tests on Wednesday. All those associated with the organization have now entered full quarantine with immediate effect.
In addition to Robert Skov and Munus Dabbur, Germany's Kraichgauer now report that midfielder Sebastian Rudy, attacker Ishak Belfodil and an unnamed member of the coaching staff have also tested positive for COVID-19.

Faced with such a raft of cases, the club has little choice but to isolate all of its players and staff. In a highly worrying sign that the local outbreak may spread many more cases globally, seven Hoffenheim players released for international duty may be infected.

All respective national teams have been notified. Hoffenheim keeper Oliver Baumann, a late call-up to Joachim Löw's National XI, has already isolated himself from the rest of the team.

TSG sporting director Alexander Rosen released a statement on club's website noting with bewilderment, "We cannot explain the accumulation."

"We have meticulously and conscientiously adhering to our hygiene concept for months," the statement continues, "For months we were able to traverse the pandemic absent a single positive case. [Now] it's hitting us extremely hard."
