Openda ready to challenge Kane for goalscoring crown

Lois Openda has declared himself ready to challenge Harry Kane for the Bundesliga's top scorer award.

After netting an impressive 24 times in the Bundesliga in his first season with RB Leipzig, Lois Openda has set his sights on even more goals this season.

Following his brace in Leipzig's 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen, the Belgium international declared himself ready to challenge Harry Kane, who scored 36 goals last season, for the Bundesliga's top scorer trophy.

“I want to score more goals this season to help the team. I can't give a number, but I want to score more,” Openda told Bild.

“I want to be one of the top scorers, preferably number 1. That's also an incentive in training”

But what are the secrets behind Openda's many goals?

"My goals are very simple at the moment: confidence, shot, goal! It's not difficult for me at the moment," Openda explained.

"I'm concentrating on having maximum control and just finishing cleanly. That's all it is."

Openda became a father over the summer, and that has only spurred him on to score more goals.

"I have my baby at home now, which gives me even more confidence. The little one and my wife are always in my thoughts and help me to score goals.
