Mainz have been one of the surprise packages of the Bundesliga this season, currently sitting third.

Nadiem Amiri has played a key role in that, pulling the strings in midfield for Bo Henriksen's side.

Unsurprisingly, Amiri's form has been noticed by other clubs, with Sport Bild reporting that RB Leipzig are keeping tabs on the midfielder.

However, Die Roten Bullen are yet to make contact over the possibility of signing Amiri, according to the report.

Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the Germany international.

However, with Mainz currently on course for European football, it's questionable if he would be willing to leave the club.

The 28-year-old is tied to Die Nullfünfer until 2028.
