Weiser places odds at Werder stay at "50-50"

Speaking to the Sky microphones after Saturday afternoon's draw with RB Leipzig, SV Werder Bremen wingback Mitchell Weiser provided an update on his future.

A few weeks after newly elevated SV Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz announced that the club may be interested in retaining the services of wingback Mitchell Weiser after all, Weiser himself has commented on his situation. Whether or not Weiser's expiring contract will be renewed remains to be seen. In any event, Weiser conveyed to the Sky microphones after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Leipzig that there would be a decision "next week".

Weir's production numbers (three goals and seven assists) have tapered off a bit (four goals and 11 assists across all competitions) since last season, but the 30-year-old is still considered an important part of Ole Werner's squad. He's started all league fixtures (29) for which he's been fit and not suspended. With an estimated market worth of €6 million, Weiser would be one of the most valuable free agents on the summer transfer market.

Weiser put the chances on a stay at "50-50".
