After starting Germany's three games in the group stage, Florian Wirtz dropped to the bench for the 2-0 win over Denmark, with Leroy Sané starting in his place.
On the day before the quarter-final clash with Spain, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann was asked which of the two attacking players he plans to start this time - but he didn't want to reveal too much.
"I can answer that question, but I don't want to. There are still one or two question marks that we'll discuss and weigh up again on the final evening," said Nagelsmann.
“You always try to write a script for how a game like this will go, but you can't always predict that. If you can decide between Flo and Leroy, it's basically not a bad decision.”
As for how he approaches the game, Nagelsmann indicated that sometimes attack is the best defense.
"My focus is less on [Lamine] Yamal and more on Jamal [Musiala]. I think we can shape the game offensively. There are always different approaches to how you counter a good possession team. Of course, a defensive approach is one of them.
“Our goal is to have the ball ourselves. It is always easier to play against one of the strongest teams when you have the ball. That's our approach. There's a clear idea behind the attacking play, you can analyze it well, but it's difficult to defend against.”
