29-year-old forward Steve Mounié has joined Augsburg on a free transfer.

The Bundesliga side confirmed the signing of the Benin international, who last played for Stade Brest, on Friday. He has signed a contract until 2027.

"FC Augsburg have made a great effort to recruit me and offer me the best conditions to bring my strengths to the pitch. I will give my all for the club from the very first training session and do my part to ensure a successful season," said Steve Mounié.

“I am also proud that the transfer makes me the first Benin international to play in three of the top five leagues in Europe.”

Augsburg's sporting director, Marinko Jurendic, is also pleased with the transfer.

“Steve Mounié is a physically robust attacker with a strong header who is particularly impressive with his skills in the penalty area. Steve has experience at the highest European level and his personality should also be an important pillar for our team.”

The former Huddersfield Town striker scored six goals in 32 appearances in the French Ligue 1 last season.
