Kroos hits out at "black and white" coverage of German national team

Toni Kroos has hit out at the German media, accusing them of reporting on the national team in an unproductive manner.

Toni Kroos is frustrated by the "black and white" coverage of the German national team in the media.

Speaking on his podcast 'Einfach mal Luppen', the 34-year-old German international said he believes the expectations placed on the team in the media are either rock bottom or sky high.

Especially after Germany's losses to Turkey and Austria in November, "everyone was happy that the European Championship was being held in Germany, because otherwise we wouldn't have qualified. It was clear that we would get to play, but we would definitely get knocked out of the group," Kroos said, adding:

"Then the tournament starts well and of course we're European champions after the first game. And if we don't win 5-1 in every game, then the euphoria dies down.

"We are only talking about the media, not the fans. I have the feeling that they are celebrating, they are happy, they are dreaming," said Kroos.

Germany continue their Euro 2024 campaign on Saturday when they take on Denmark in the round of 16.
