Will Serge Gnabry be fit to face Real Madrid in the second leg of Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final clash?

That is probably a question many Bayern fans are asking after the attacker missed Saturday’s 5-0 win over FC St. Pauli due to minor knee problems.

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl provided an update in the mixed zone after the match in Hamburg.

“We felt that it wasn’t a good idea for him to make the trip to Hamburg. With two flights, he probably wouldn’t have been an option on the pitch anyway,” said Eberl, who also expressed optimism ahead of the crucial mid-week clash against Real Madrid.

“We expect him to be fit for Wednesday,” he added.

Gnabry started the first leg and provided the assist for Luis Díaz’s opener in Bayern’s 2-1 win at the Bernabeu.
