Bayern sell keeper Schenk to Preußen Münster

Newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side SC Preußen Münster confirmed the permanent transfer of FC Bayern München goal-keeping prospect Johannes Schenk on Monday afternoon.

Twenty-one-year-old former FC Bayern München campus product Johannes Schenk is moving to newly promoted 2. Bundesliga side SC Preußen Münster on a permanent basis. The Schweinfurt-native was loaned out to the 3. Liga side last summer. Schenk was deployed eight times in the league last season. He also started in the team's round-one DFB Pokal defeat to his current club.

"I'm delighted to be continuing my journey at Preußen Münster," Schenk is quoted as saying on his new club's website, "I was very well received here last year, feel very comfortable and am extremely motivated to tackle the new season. I want to repay the trust placed in me and I want to be successful with our team My big thanks go to FC Bayern Munich, who have always supported me and given me a lot along the way."

"Johannes is one of the most talented goalkeepers in Germany," Münster's sporting director Ole Kittner added, We are absolutely convinced that he can develop and assert himself at the highest level with us. He made an outstanding contribution as a player and as a person last year, knows the environment and was an important part of our successful promotion team."

Terms of the permanent transfer were not divulged. Schenk joined the FCB academy from Nürnberg in 2017. He ended up making 29 appearances for FCB II in the German fourth division. He was selected for the senior team's match-day squad six times by Bayern trainers Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel during the 2022/23 season, remaining unused on the bench in all cases.
