Mert Kömür's late winner earned Augsburg a 2-1 away win over Bochum.

Alexis Claude-Maurice came close to giving Augsburg an early lead in the seventh minute after Fredrik Jensen teed him up, but the striker's shot drifted narrowly wide of the target.

The visitors eventually took the lead in the 16th minute through Samuel Essende, who received the ball from Alexis Claude-Maurice and fired a shot from just inside the box. Bernardo dived in an attempt to block it, but instead diverted the ball into his own net.

Bochum’s first real opportunity came in the 20th minute, with Felix Passlack hitting a powerful shot that narrowly missed the target.

Around the 25th minute, Claude-Maurice nearly doubled Augsburg's lead, evading a challenge before unleashing a shot that Timo Horn managed to palm away.

Later in the first half, Bochum midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko’s header seemed destined for goal, but Finn Dahmen produced a brilliant reflex save to deny him.

Kristijan Jakić looked set to put Augsburg 2-0 up just before half-time, but Ivan Ordets made a timely clearance off the line.

Bochum started the second half brightly. Philipp Hoffmann had a double chance that was blocked, and moments later, Giorgios Masouras' free kick under the wall was kept out by a great save from Dahmen.

Bochum finally found the equaliser around the hour mark, as Dahmen was unable to prevent Philipp Hoffmann’s powerful header from finding the back of the net.

Augsburg’s hopes of regaining the lead took a hit 10 minutes from time when Arne Maier was sent off for a foul on Bernardo.

Bochum pushed for the win, and Mats Pannewig came close in the dying minutes when his shot struck the post.

However, it was Augsburg who snatched the victory, as Philip Tietz provided the assist for Mert Kömür, who netted the winning goal shortly after.

The win lifts Augsburg to eighth place, while Bochum remain in 17th, two points clear of Holstein Kiel but two points behind Heidenheim, who face Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
