Borussia Dortmund have confirmed former Bundesliga player Thomas Broich as their new academy director.

Broich joins from Hertha BSC, where he was head of methodology, and has signed a contract with Dortmund until 2027.

“Thomas has a great passion for developing young talent and has a wealth of experience as a professional in the Bundesliga and abroad,” said Borussia Dortmund managing director for sport Lars Ricken.

“During his time in Frankfurt and Berlin, he gained valuable insight into the development of young players. He is also known as a TV pundit and has proven his expertise in this area as well, bringing another facet of football to the table.”

Broich says he can hardly wait to get started in his new job.

"My talks with Lars Ricken were marked by a great deal of agreement between his vision for the future and my ideas. Just like me, the BVB youth academy is committed to constantly developing its own training concept and game ideas," he said.
