Mainz 05 secured sixth place in the Bundesliga - and a spot in next season’s UEFA Conference League - with a 2–2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

The result confirmed Mainz’s return to European competition for the first time since the 2016/17 season, capping off a memorable campaign under head coach Bo Henriksen.

“It’s been a sublime season in every possible way. We attacked everything we could. We dared to keep the ball and play good football,” Henriksen told Viaplay after the match.

“Honestly, I think we deserved to finish even higher, but we’re proud," added the Danish coach.

“The togetherness, the energy - and the quality - that’s what got us here. Now it’s time to party. People are going absolutely wild,” he added.
