France topped the “Group of Death” in the Women’s Euros after their comeback win over the Netherlands. Delphine Cascarino, who was the Player of the Match in their victory over England, scored two goals and assisted another in a 5-2 win.

The result meant all four group winners finished with nine points. France will now play against Germany in Basel next Saturday. The two teams will battle again after three months with a two-legged semi-final tie in the UEFA Nations League.

The Netherlands were 2-1 ahead at the break, but they needed to win by three goals to progress from the group, which ended up being the exact margin they lost. England would’ve been Germany’s opponent had France lost tonight’s game.

The defending champions did their bit by scoring half a dozen goals against tournament debutants Wales. They will be facing Sweden in the second quarter-final on Thursday.

The knockout stage will commence on Wednesday between Norway and Italy. Spain, the overwhelming favorites for the title, await hosts Switzerland on Friday as all four games will be played on separate dates.
