Confirmed Lineups: Germany Women v Spain Women

The lineups are announced for the second semi-final clash of the Women’s Euros.

Christian Wück announced his lineup for the clash against tournament favorites Spain. The 52-year-old coach puts Carlotta Wamser at right-back after her return from suspension. Meanwhile, Kathrin Hendrich (red card) and Sjoeke Nüsken (two yellows) are suspended for this one after the chaotic quarter-final win over France.

Wück used 5-4-1 for the first time on Saturday, and he’ll stick with that formation to find solutions against Spain’s world-class attackers. A surprise addition to the starting lineup is the vastly experienced Sara Dabritz. The Lyon midfielder only played 8 minutes so far in the tournament, but she gets the nod for the big one ahead of Laura Freigang, Linda Dallmann and Sydney Lohmann.

Similarly, Spain will be without Laia Aleixandri after her second caution of the tournament against hosts Switzerland. Montse Tomé decides to go with María Méndez to partner the skipper Irene Paredes at the heart of defense in Spain’s only change from the quarter-final.

The winner will face England on Sunday in Basel. If Germany progress against the odds, it’ll be a repeat of the 2022 final.
