Gladbach to host Leverkusen in 2024/25 season opener
The full 2024/25 Bundesliga schedule is due in a few short hours! Ahead of the full release, the German footballing body responsible for administrating the country's top two professional footballing flights has revealed that defending champions Leverkusen will travel to Gladbach to launch the campaign on Friday, August 23rd. Kickoff is scheduled for 20:30. The full fixture list is due at noon today.
For the first time in twelve years, German record champions FC Bayern München - having not captured the Bundesliga crown - will not feature in the opening match. Leverkusen defeated Gladbach at Borussia Park on the second match-day of the previous campaign. When it came time for the foals to visit the BayArena in late January, the two sides shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate.
In a statement released on the club's website, BMGmanaging director Roland Virkus noted that the BMG eres "delighted" to be hosting their Westphalian neighbors in the opener. The clash will be broadcast both on streaming provider DAZN (which will also be showing every Friday and Sunday game in the new season) and on German public television station Sat1.
