Report: Kimmich could return in time to face Stuttgart

Joshua Kimmich could be fit for Matchday 24, but affording the 30-year-old a rest might be a wiser move.

Sky Sports Germany believes it is not entirely out of the equation that Joshua Kimmich could feature against VfB Stuttgart next Friday.

Kimmich, who limped off before half-time in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, didn’t suffer a serious injury.

Results from an MRI scan merely sited tendon irritation as the cause for concern.

However, with an eye on the Bavarians’ Champions League last-16 ties with Bayer Leverkusen on the 5th and 11th of March, Kimmich could be rested.

With a healthy 8-point lead in the Bundesliga, a push in Europe’s premier competition might be prioritised as Vincent Kompany’s side take on Die Werkself.

Add to that, the return of Joao Palhinha from illness, Aleksandar Pavlovic’s fine form, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer’s versatility – Bayern are well resourced in Kimmich’s position.
