Leverkusen confirm venue for Championship party, 40,000 free tickets to be available

Bayer 04 Leverkusen's "post-season" party is beginning to take shape. As had been anticipated, Germany's red company team will be holding a rather unique celebration on May 26th.

The club - not having a market square - will hoist the Meisterschale at the BayArena. Some 40,000 free tickets are set to be distributed via the club's website on May 7th.

Some three weeks after confirming the date of their post-season title celebration, undefeated German Super Club Bayer 04 Leverkusen (as many had anticipated) also confirmed that the team will be hoisting the Meisterschale at the BayArena. Leverkusen's first ever league title constitutes a unique occurrence in German football. Traditionally, clubs celebrate their championship in a public space such as a town square.

The small, and relatively new town of Leverkusen, has no such space available. Thus, the club will be hosting the party at its stadium. Bayer 04 is offering around 40,000 free tickets for the title party, which will begin being distributed at May 7th at 12 noon via the club's website. Members obviously have priority.

For fans who can't get hold of one of the tickets, Bayer 04 will also be offering pictures of the parade and the celebrations in the stadium on large screens under the Stilt Freeway next to the BayArena. A "family zone" is planned for larger groups unable to secure bulk tickets.

Leverkusen deliberately selected the date May 26th for what may prove a very special party indeed. Leverkusen can be considered as the favorites to take the DFB Pokal Final against Kaiserslautern on the day just prior. The team may potentially also be hosting the Europa League trophy.
