Prior to Mainz’s trip to Signal Iduna Park, Nico Schlotterbeck had never taken a corner-kick in the Bundesliga. However, we’ll surely see him do it again after two of his deliveries produced goals to Maximilian Beier and Emre Can.

"Daniel Svensson took the corners during the week," said Schlotterbeck after the game. “Since he was unavailable, we had two left-footers in Karim (Adeyemi) and me. From then, the coach remembered Badstuber, who also did that once as a left-back at Bayern."

Holger Badstuber struggled with injuries during his playing career, but he was a great player with the ball on his feet. Since his time in Bayern youth teams, the center-back has been on set-piece duty. He also scored his first goal for Bayern’s first team from a direct free-kick.
