Serhou Guirassy played 180 minutes during the international break when Guinea failed to beat lowly opponents Somalia and Uganda in World Cup qualifiers. However, Dortmund’s top-scorer is now set to miss today’s huge clash against Mainz. The reason is yet to be disclosed.

In his place, Niko Kovac promoted Rodney Elongo-Yombo to the first team. The 23-year-old winger played 30 3. Liga games for BVB II this season. This is only the second time he has been included in a Bundesliga matchday squad, but it’ll be his first appearance if he gets to feature in the game.

Dortmund will be without midfielders Felix Nmecha and Marcel Sabitzer when they host the surprise Champions League hopefuls. On the contrary, Carney Chukwuemeka and Daniel Svensson will be back in the squad after recovering from injuries.
