Baumgartner out for weekend with COVID

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will have to do without key performer Christoph Baumgartner in this weekend's showdown against FC Bayern München.

Germany's Kraichgauer confirmed that attacking midfielder Christoph Baumgartner had tested positive for COVID on Friday morning. The club reported that the Austrian midfielder, having been fully vaccinated, is exhibiting no symptoms. Naturally, the 22-year-old midfielder is still in domestic isolation.

In six starts and one relief appearance thus far this season, Baumgartner has scored three goals. Earlier in the week, the Sinsheimers also confirmed that they would be missing another regular long-term. Fullback/wingback Pavel Kaderabek--who has also scored a goal and chipped in an assist in four starts this year--will be out for several weeks with a ligament injury.

Kaderabek was subbed off early in TSG's 5-0 win over Köln last week. A makeshift arrangement still managed to score four goals without him.
