Speaking to the RTL microphones after what was a massive home win for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League last night, keeper Kevin Trapp made it clear he thought that his team had turned a corner.

The Eagles of Germany's commercial capital may be seeking just their second league win of the season on Sunday, but the team that managed to upset Bayern München in round seven find themselves at the top of their Europa League Group following last night's 3-1 victory over Olympiacos Piraeus.

The team showed a great deal of resilience in pursing the victory. New Colombian striker Rafael Santos Borré missed two excellent opportunities in front of goal before finally being awarded a chance from the spot in the 25th. The initial lead was also short-lived. The Greek visitors were awarded their own penalty, which they converted, less than five minutes later.

The Hesseners could have easily lost heart as they appeared snake-bit in their attempt to restore the lead. The teams seems destined to enter the locker room deadlocked at 1-1 when Martin Hintereeger hit the crossbar with a header at 45+3. Seconds later, however, Borré and Djibril Sow played a beautiful combo. Almamy Touré finished off the play with outstretched leg and the SGE had a goal of massive psychological importance.

"They way we played football today, especially on that second goal, you have to tip your hat to that," keeper Kevin Trapp said afterward, "that was quite the treat."

Die Adler rode their confidence-building goal all the way to a very convincing victory. Daichi Kamada scored the third goal 14 minutes after the restart. Never taking their foot off the gas pedal, the SGE could have won by a much higher margin atop quality chances involving Gonçalo Paciencia.

"Today we learned that we have to concentrate anew and keep recalling this performance," a euphoric Trapp added in his post-match interview, "because we realize if we give anything less than 100 percent it doesn't work."

Asked if the SGE could hope to top the Europa League Group which they currently top, the keeper rhetorically asked, "Why shouldn't we think so?"
