Official: Wolfsburg part company with Florian Kohfeldt

The number of Bundesliga clubs on the hunt for new head-coaches increased two three on Sunday after VfL Wolfsburg relieved Florian Kohfeldt of his duties.

VfL Wolfsburg confirmed their separation from Florian Kohfeldt on Sunday. The 39-year-old trainer, who did ultimately manage to save the Wolves from relegation after taking over for Mark van Bommel last October, didn't impress the VfL administrative team enough in their end-of-season review.

The team's performance improved only marginally under Kohfeldt. The former SV Werder Bremen gaffer finished with a record of nine wins, five draws, and 14 losses across all competitions. German footballing magazine Kicker reports that former VfL trainer Bruno Labbadia might be re-appointed as Kohfeldt's replacement.

After Borussia Mönchengladbach's Adi Hütter and FC Augsburg's Markus Weinzierl announced their respective departures yesterday, the Bundesliga has shed three top-tier trainers less than 24 hours after the season concluded.
