Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered a 1-2 defeat to Freiburg at home on Saturday afternoon, losing crucial ground to a direct rival in the battle for European qualification.

After the match, striker Tim Kleindienst expressed his frustration with his team’s attitude and body language in an interview with Sky Germany.

“I don’t know if some here have already developed a sense of contentment, thinking that the season is going okay, and that we can just coast along,” Kleindienst said.

“That’s what annoys me. We have this body language as if the season is already over and there’s nothing left to play for. But right now, it’s about something, and we should be stepping it up a notch. But I have a feeling that, in fact, the opposite is happening right now,” he added, referring to the ongoing battle for European spots.

“We’ve played good games, especially away, and it’s exactly this attitude that I’m currently missing - the belief that we are capable of beating anyone. We have high quality, but unfortunately, that's what we're missing at the moment.”

With the result, Freiburg moved ahead of Gladbach into sixth place, leaving Die Fohlen in seventh.
