Reports: Saudi offer delayed Favre's appointment at Gladbach, but deal still done
It having now been nearly a week since Lucien Favre was scheduled to be introduced as Borussia Mönchengladbach's new trainer, reports now begin to surface that the deal was threatened with collapse.
The latest on the matter, as reported by Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, is that Favre was weighing another offer from Saudi Arabia. The other overture has nevertheless been rejected and Favre will still coach Gladbach.

Germany's main sporting tabloid revealed the results of their sleuthing this morning. Apparently, the 64-year-old was considering accepting another lucrative from nine-time champions Al-Nassr Riyadh. The Swiss head-coach was reportedly offered an annual salary of €5-€7 million to work on the Peninsula.
Gladbach obviously couldn't offer their former trainer that sort of money. For comparison, the BMG were actually only able to lure now ex-coach Adi Hütter with a €3 million salary. After having taken some time to consider his other option, however, Favre has apparently opted to come home after all.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that Favre has rejected the Saudi offer and is now clarifying his coaching staff and other details with the German club. An unveiling should come after the last issues are resolved.
