With Leroy Sané's contract with Bayern Munich set to expire at the end of the season, there has been speculation surrounding the 28-year-old's future.

And while a new deal with the Bavarians is not yet in sight, both parties are "optimistic" that they can agree a contract extension, according to Sky Germany.

This is despite the fact that, according to Sky, Sané would have to agree to a gross wage cut of between €2 million and €4 million per year.

A winter transfer is said to be off the table, with the winger fully committed to Bayern.

Following a recent improvement in his performances, the 28-year-old has been recalled to the Germany squad for this month's UEFA Nations League games as a replacement for the injured Deniz Undav.
