Leon Goretzka has slipped down the pecking order at Bayern Munich since the arrival of Vincent Kompany.

Although the central midfielder made his first start of the season in the 1-0 win over St. Pauli on Saturday, he has generally struggled for minutes, and once Aleksandar Pavlovic returns from injury, his path to playing time will most likely be longer again.

So far, Goretzka has been reluctant to leave Bayern Munich, but should that change, Union Berlin are ready to capitalize on the situation.

"Every club can imagine signing him. That's also the case for us," Union's managing director, Horst Heldt, told Bild.

He even spoke to Goretzka before Bayern's 3-0 win over Union Berlin in early November.

"Two weeks ago, we talked about the fact that his situation is not so easy," Heldt said.

"Of course he will also think about what the future holds for him."

Goretzka's contract with Bayern runs until 2026.
